Kappa Sig Golfers take back the Sig-Cup traveling trophy!
Sig Cup generates $4000 in undergrad scholarships
Sig Cup generates $4000 in undergrad scholarship funds during the two-day event held August 6 and 7. Round one was a scramble format and played in conjunction with the Trine Alumni and Friends outing at
Zollner. Competition on day 2 was held at Glendarin Golf Club in Angola. Competition was stiff but for the 4th time in 5 years, Kappa Sig sent the Alpha Sigs packing. Over the course of the two days approximately 24 Kappa Sig alums took part in this rapidly growing summer event, and several others attended the festivities and just enjoyed visiting and reminiscing. Additionally, many guys stayed on campus at the new House. Consider putting this weekend on your calendar for next year August 5 and 6, 2011.
This was my first Sig Cup and I understand now why it gets such raves every year, and continues to grow in popularity and attendance. I thoroughly enjoyed the reunion with our Brothers and the good-natured but feisty competition on the golf courses. The only negative was when Ballinger watched my hacking at Glendarin for a while and yelled that I was hurting the team. As it turned out, that kick in the ass was just what I needed, along with another beer. I managed to drain a 17 incher on the 18 to win the hole, and Terry Stanley and I won 3 points for the team. (Terry did most of the work – thanks Terry!) Anyway – I look forward to attending future Sig Cups and thank everyone (except Bal) for graciously putting up with my rotten golf game. .
The event was again a good day of golf and good food. I did miss the "silent auction", but I think what makes the event good is the competition against the Alpha Sig's, seeing old friends and the mix of the "old" and "younger" alumni (who as you know "carry" us older guys)!
